I've never eaten here, but it looks great!

Oh my, all the dishes look wonderful. The stomach is growling now and lunch is still 3 hours away.

Looks delicious! I will heed your advice and try this place out!

Hello nice to meet you.
KO-N-NI-CHI-WA (^_^)v
I am Japanese.
I saw your wonderful site.
Please link to this site !

Haven't heard of this place before but I do enjoy izakaya type dining. Thanks for the tip!

Looks good...
Looking forward to some non-Hawaii posts as well...
Maybe you could make a Hawaii tag toggle on/off button for those other people... I personally enjoy reading any food reviews. Keep it up.

That first shot is amazing! It looks like a waterfall of salmon!

I enjoyed reading your blog. I love food and reading about it. This dish looks great!

Here is my site if you like to check it out sometime:

Wow all the pictures are amazing, they look so good. I love Japanese food. The presentation is awesome as well. Can't wait to try some :)

I went to Gaku about 6 months ago and I've still raving about it. The food was heavenly, and the attentive staff made the place feel just like home.

It's a cozy, very Japanese type of place with lots of dark wood and appropriately dim lighting in the evening. Forget Nobu's, take your date to Gaku and you won't regret it!

braddah, u've got to take me here. I love how the tamago looks :D

Sushi Izakaya Gaku should open a second restaurant in Portland. It would be the first one on my Must Go list.

sushi addict

Went there a couple weeks ago, and its definitely a go back to. Had the spicy hamachi with masago and quail egg....was so gooooood! Know its good when there are a lot of Japanese nationals there. Crowded so go early!

Most of the newer photos on this site are being taken by this camera. I'm still learning how to use it, but I think the photos it takes are amazing. Though the lens I use often varies, many of the photos on this site are taken with a Canon EF 35mm f2.0 lens.

    Sony Cyber-shot® DSC-U40

A majority of the photos on this site were shot using this little camera. It was compact and discreet -- excellent for taking photos under most conditions. Sadly, it has recently died.
