Sushi Izakaya Gaku
Creative, memorable and delicious beyond words. The food at Sushi Izakaya Gaku is probably better than most of the Japanese food that you would find around town. Open for about a year now, the crowds at this izakaya/sushi bar have been growing steadily. Inexpensive Japanese food this is not, but it is so worth every penny spent. It is that good!

Haven't heard of this place before but I do enjoy izakaya type dining. Thanks for the tip!

Looks good...
Looking forward to some non-Hawaii posts as well...
Maybe you could make a Hawaii tag toggle on/off button for those other people... I personally enjoy reading any food reviews. Keep it up.

I went to Gaku about 6 months ago and I've still raving about it. The food was heavenly, and the attentive staff made the place feel just like home.
It's a cozy, very Japanese type of place with lots of dark wood and appropriately dim lighting in the evening. Forget Nobu's, take your date to Gaku and you won't regret it!

Sushi Izakaya Gaku should open a second restaurant in Portland. It would be the first one on my Must Go list.

Went there a couple weeks ago, and its definitely a go back to. Had the spicy hamachi with masago and quail egg....was so gooooood! Know its good when there are a lot of Japanese nationals there. Crowded so go early!
