Bob's Big Boy
A slice of Americana right in my own backyard, Bob's Big Boy has been serving locals since the mid-70's. One of just a few late night eateries around, Bob's serves up an eclectic mix of local favorites, diner classics and a small assortment of ethnic dishes too.
Mix combination (US$8.95).
On the plate, you'll find mahi mahi, teriyaki chicken and a small bowl of hearty beef stew.
Hot turkey open-faced turkey sandwich (US$8.95).

Well I'll be! I used to adore Bob's Big Boy, but I haven't seen one in I can't tell you how many years! I wonder how many are still around. I remember the little magazine they published for kids way longer ago than I care to admit to... ;o)

I ate there once for my birthday (I REALLY wanted to eat there for my birthday). It's a good place to eat. I also REALLY wanted to steal the Big Boy statue and recreate scenes from Austin Powers.

Hi Reid,
I still remember the original Big Boy in Glendale, Ca. but in the past few years most of the restaurants have all but disappeared. I used to love their fried chicken special the most! There's only a few of them left here with the big fat boy out front. What's next...Ronald McDonald?

Commander Gilmour: Oh my God, he's back.
Johnson Ritter: In many ways, Bob's Big Boy never left, sir. He's always offered the same high quality meals at competitive prices.
I love the Austin Powers movies. They've made me want to try Bob's Big Boy.

That last photo is especially mouthwatering, look at all that gravy! There used to be a Bob's Big Boy in San Diego when I was growing up. Not sure if it's still there but I have a Big Boy plastic figurine to prove that I've been there once upon a time. :)

Bob's Big Boy....not too many of those left around the country anymore. Have you had their Chili Spaghetti? That was my go-to meal when I was between 8 and 12 years old. I still get it sometimes for old times sake.

Chili spaghetti! Oh my...I tried replicating that old favorite using a can of Hormel chili over spaghetti but hm-m-m-m...not the same. Most of our old Bob's Big Boy restaurants here in So Cal were gradually replaced by Coco's or some other chain diners. So. much for nostalgia. Thank goodness Knotts Berry Farm still serves up homestyle chicken dinners that's pretty close to BBB! The hot biscuits with honey really gave it that extra touch of home cooking also.

I would like to have Bobs Big Boy chili-spaghetti recipi. Does anyone know how I can get it. We don't have a Bobs for 150 miles.

My husband and I finally went after 10 years of me talking about the chili spaghetti (aka Cincinnati chili) I used to eat at Bob's Big Boy downtown that was across from Taco Hut. They didn't have chili spaghetti. I was disappointed, but I often eat it at one of the many Skyline restaurants, as it's a Cincinnati creation. :)

My girlfriend took me to the Bobs in Burbank when I was staying with her in LA.. Shes an Austin Powers nut and I'm Engerlish ;) and thought Big Boy was created for the film. How wrong I was, they are indeed high quality meals at reasonable prices. I now have one of the Big boy figurines in my kitchen...
Its not difficult people, if you see Big Boy, pay him a visit, you wont regret it :)
