Anna Miller's 24-Hour Restaurant
A couple of weeks ago I posted about Bravo Restaurant and was asked by Santos about Anna Miller's strawberry pie. Since then, I've been trying to keep the urge to eat the fresh strawberry pie at bay...today, I caved in to my cravings! URGH!
I made the twenty minute drive from my house to Anna Miller's in Aiea.
This is a huge coffeeshop/restaurant/bakery that is open 24 hours a day. Many years back, they were known for their fruit pies: cherry, peach, apple, etc. It was only more recently (I would say maybe the last 10 years or so) that they became known almost exclusively for their fresh strawberry pie. So much so, that it's become their signature.
And here it is...the fresh strawberry pie still sitting in the box (US$10.95).
Doesn't that look good? The only thing wrong about this pie today was the crust. I felt it was a little undercooked. Other than that, the pie was delicious (after removing some of the whipped cream of course!). The strawberries were nice and plump...and contrary to what your eyes may be telling you, this pie is not as sweet as it looks (again, with some of the whipped cream removed!).
Now that I've had my fix, what am I going to do with the remaining 7 pieces of the pie?

arrrrrgggghhh! you could try mailing one slice to me!!!!!!! :-)
seriously though, every time i cut through one of those, it would cave into a gooey, strawberry mass. couldn't exactly call them slices.
still, nothing wrong with that.

Hi Santos,
I don't think it would survive the trip all the way to Guam. hehe. Yeah, it happens to me too. I almost got a perfect slice off and then it came crashing down on the plate...probably due to the weight of the berries and the insufficiently cooked crust. The gooey mess was still wonderful though! =)

Yay! Anna Millers. Cherry pie good. None here - many in Japan though, half the customers are Japanese lads checking out the cute uniforms.

Hi Anthony,
I didn't know they had Anna Miller's in Japan.
The pies here are the best! =)

Looks so good!Now I'm hungry again:\

Hi Min,
It was very yummy! The pie had the right amount of sweetness and tartness to it. However, once I satisfied my craving, I was left with almost a whole pie...didn't think about that before I bought it. =(

Hi Nick,
Thanks for stopping by. I did enjoy the pie! =) However, I do think that if I had to look at them all day, I probably wouldn't like them either.

strawsberry pie is seasonal right?
does anyone know from what month to what month?
Posted by: d | January 23, 2006 at 02:52 PM
Hi d,
Welcome!
Yes, the strawberry pie here is seasonal and you will normally see it at Anna Millers once strawberries start arriving in bulk at the supermarkets. My best guess is that it is usually available in late February early March until September/October.

Here's a picture of the Anna Millers' waitress uniforms for anyone who's interested. The restaurant has strict hiring policies in Japan, as you can see, policies that cannot be enforced in the U.S., even at Hooters.

Hi Todo,
Thanks for visiting my blog.
The uniforms are much different than the ones the waitresses wear here. I will definitely have to post a picture of them soon. Thanks for sharing.

Holy Moley! I missed this post Reid! Guess I've been pretty busy myself. Strawberries are big around here, maybe I should apply some to a pie. That one looks so totally outstanding!
