And the winner is...

Drumroll anyone?

But before I announce the winner, let me thank everyone who participated in our efforts to bring some sunshine to what is normally a gloomy winter season.  You should all be commended for taking the time out of your busy schedules to play along with both Alan and myself.  I would also like to thank our two guest judges, the fabulous Gail at HawaiiDiner.com, and our friend Kirk at mmm-yoso!!!.  Well done judges!

The judging was tough, especially since I personally liked every single entry that was submitted.  Granted, some posts, and accompanying recipes, were better than others, but each had a story to tell.  And that, my friends, is where the real fun lies.

So, without further ado...

...there really wasn't a unanimous winner here, but here is what the judges had to say about some of their favorites.  Kirk said, "...kept me in suspense, both about how the impending disaster of a trip would turn out" and "I was entertained at the lively commentary."  Gail said, "I gave greatest weight to the recipe/vacation connection. As a writer, I also looked for a story that captivated me and kept me reading." and "this was the entry which married the two elements perfectly."

It was funny, and ironic, that both Alan and myself came to the same conclusion -- we both chose the same winner.  How that happened, is beyond me.  So, without further delay...the winning post/recipe, with the lowest score of 5 points is...

Bhutanesechilesncheese_1

...Robyn at Eating Asia and her post titled "Bhutanese Chiles 'n Cheese".  The story was simple, yet captivating.  It flowed nicely and the dish, which she came to loathe, actually end up bringing back many fond memories of her time spent in the villages of Bhutan.

Congratulations Robyn!  Please send us your information so that we can get that box of goodies dispatched to you!

Equipment

  • Canoneos5d
    Canon EOS 5D

Most of the newer photos on this site are being taken by this camera. I'm still learning how to use it, but I think the photos it takes are amazing. Though the lens I use often varies, many of the photos on this site are taken with a Canon EF 35mm f2.0 lens.

  • Dscu40r
    Sony Cyber-shot® DSC-U40

A majority of the photos on this site were shot using this little camera. It was compact and discreet -- excellent for taking photos under most conditions. Sadly, it has recently died.
