Awesome! Not having seen the place before, it's hard to tell exactly what you're seeing. At first I thought I was seeing the sea through a hole in some sort of rock formation, but I guess there are some rocks in the foreground and the islet behind?

Hi Cathy,

Actually, the picture is a close up of a hole in the islet itself. As I understand it, the hole was caused by the crashing waves. It's quite interesting.

What a beautiful and interesting looking islet...

Hi Keiko,

It's quite interesting isn't it? There is an old Hawaiian legend about it as well. That islet is apparently a piece of a large lizard that used to stand guard at this very spot.

Not just the look of it, it has a beautiful story too... thank you for sharing with us and I'm looking forward to seeing more of your wonderful photos.

Wow!!!

Reid,

Would it be possible to get a bigger picture to add to my screen saver?

Thanks for all the trouble.

Hi Mathy,

It's been a while hasn't it? =)

So sorry that it took me this long to respond, but my internet connection was down.

I'm glad you like the photo and I'll be sending it to you shortly. =)

Equipment

  • Canoneos5d
    Canon EOS 5D

Most of the newer photos on this site are being taken by this camera. I'm still learning how to use it, but I think the photos it takes are amazing. Though the lens I use often varies, many of the photos on this site are taken with a Canon EF 35mm f2.0 lens.

  • Dscu40r
    Sony Cyber-shot® DSC-U40

A majority of the photos on this site were shot using this little camera. It was compact and discreet -- excellent for taking photos under most conditions. Sadly, it has recently died.
